This coin commemorates the peace agreement between Philip I and Shapur, in which the humiliated Romans agreed to pay a tribute of 50 Million Sestertii to the Sasanids. Nonetheless, the imperial propaganda marked the treaty as a huge success and Philip I assumed the victory title 'Persicus Maximus'
